DEFEND.
For councils and statutory services
Long-term, trauma-informed provision for girls aged 11 to 17 who don't engage with traditional services. Non-contact boxing, self-defence, voice and confidence, delivered week in, week out by female coaches, in partnership with the professionals who know the girls.
Who it's for
Girls identified by children's services, youth justice, education or community safety partners, including girls who are care-experienced, affected by domestic abuse, at risk of exploitation, or disengaging from school and from mixed or mainstream activity.
Places are by closed referral from your professionals. Nobody self-refers.
What we deliver
Ongoing provision, not a short course.
We work with councils on contracts of 12 months or longer, so girls have a consistent, trusted place to be for as long as they need it. Our pilots showed what a few weeks can do; the aim is what a year can do.
Two age cohorts.
Girls aged 11 to 14 and 15 to 17, in separate groups, so the content fits.
A venue that works for the girls.
Yours, ours, or somewhere neutral. Transport can be built in.
Reporting as it happens.
Check-in when she starts, check-out when she finishes, and progress updates at agreed points, so you see results while the programme is running, not after.
Evaluation built in.
What the girls said, what changed, what we'd recommend next, at every reporting point and at the end of the contract.
What we're careful to claim
Fight Like a Girl won't single-handedly reduce violence, exploitation or domestic abuse. What it can do, as part of your prevention and early-intervention offer, is give girls who won't walk into a mixed sports club or a generic youth session a safe, trusted, female-led route into positive activity, and give you clear local evidence of what works.
How we keep her safe
- Every coach is female, DBS checked and safeguarding trained
- At least two coaches at every session, with a Designated Safeguarding Lead on call throughout
- Completely non-contact, at every point
- A clear concern-reporting process, shared with every referring professional
- Full safeguarding and child protection policy in line with statutory guidance

In her corner
"Savannah is proof of what happens when you refuse to back down."Fight Like a Girl was co-founded by Savannah Marshall, undisputed world champion and two-time Olympian, and every programme carries her name and her standards.
Evidence
Our programmes have moved girls' confidence, safety and skills scores from 52% to 83% of the maximum. Every girl who completed it improved, and school staff rated the programme 5 out of 5 on every measure.
